Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss, 22-year-old beauty queen was crowned winner of Miss World 2014 at the competition’s grand final at the Excel London ICC Auditorium on Sunday. Strauss, the daughter of a doctor and nurse, is a fourth-year medical student.

Strauss is the first Miss World titleholder from South Africa in 40 years and the first to win the competition in more than 55 years.
