Janicel Lubina, 19-year-old self-confessed ‘kasambahay’ from Palawan, is vying for a title in Binibining Pilipinas 2015.
During a press interview in Sofitel Philippine Plaza, she remembered she had to work hard to support her family. Aside from being a house helper, she also worked in a farm to earn extra money.
“I had to work as house helper during my third year in high school because my father had a mild stroke. I became a housemaid since my mother was also was one,” she said.
Being proud of her humble beginnings, Lubina said she did not feel discrimination from her fellow candidates.
She already joined other beauty pageant in previous years. She won the title Mutya ng Palawan 2012, 1st Runner-up in Miss World Philippines 2013 and Slimmers’ World Miss Bikini Philippines 2013.
Lubina will be competing with 33 other candidates in the 2015 edition of the Binibining Pilipinas slated on March 15 in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
