WATCH: Shooting Incident at SM Southmall Las Pinas, Photos and Videos


A Pasay City councilor was shot in a shooting incident at SM Southmall, Las Pinas City on Saturday evening, August 5, 2017.

Police authorities said, Councilor Borbie Rivera was shot by unidentified gunmen at the mall’s parking area. The victim was rushed to Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City but ‘declared dead on arrival.’

Last June, Rivera was injured in an ambush along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.

In April 2015, he was arrested on charges of murder. He was released in April 2016 after the court junked the case.

SM Supermalls Official Statement:

There was an incident that happened, in the driveway outside the mall, involving a male customer. The customer was immediately attended to and taken to the nearby hospital accompanied by our emergency response team.

The incident necessitated the temporary closure of that particular area to ensure the safety of the people in the vicinity. Our security, together with the local PNP, has already declared the mall safe to be re-opened. The Mall is back to normal operations. A joint investigation with the PNP is currently ongoing.

Report said that at least three gunshots were heard by mall goers, who were immediately told to evacuate.
