Mother Monster Lady Gaga covered John Lennon’s “Imagine” at the opening ceremony for the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, last Friday (June 12).
Taking place at the Olympic Stadium to over 70,000 people, the 29-year-old singer wowed the crowd with a chill-inducing rendition of the 1971 hit along on a flower-laden grand piano.
“What an honor to have a few moments with the world watching. Could you imagine. What would you say?” Gaga wrote on Instagram before the show.
Featuring more than 6,000 athletes from 50 National Olympic Committees across Europe, the European Games 2015 involves 30 sports, ranging from cycling, to beach soccer and archery. The competition is due to run until June 28.
