Jimboy Salazar passed away due to acute pneumonia Friday morning, July 24, 2015. He was diagnosed in May this year.
According to celebrity news site Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), the 42-year-old singer was rushed to hospital in San Miguel, Bulacan due to shortness of breath but pronounced dead on arrival.
On Thursday, Jimboy was interviewed by GMA-7 weekly show ‘Startalk’ and denied speculations that he’s suffering from AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
Jimboy, who came out as gay in 2010, planned to get married with the guy who later left him overseas last year.
He was part of GMA youth-oriented variety show That’s Entertainment in 1990’s. He starred in several movies which include Bocaue Pagoda Tragedy (1995) and Patikim ng Piña (1996).
Jimboy rose to fame after being linked with midget comedian Mahal.
