CNN Hero of the Year 2009 is Efren Peñaflorinda
Pushcart educator from the Philippines Efren Peñaflorinda was named as the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year. The award was given last Saturday night in Hollywood. The Filipino hero was present in the awarding ceremony to receive the prestigious award. He will receive $100,000 to continue his work with the Dynamic Teen Company in the Philippines.
For more than seven weeks of continuous voting, Efren lead the race and finally bagged the CNN of the Year. In his speech, he said
“Our planet is filled with heroes, young and old, rich and poor, man, woman of different colors, shapes and sizes. We are one great tapestry. Each person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need. So to each and every person inside in this theater and for those who are watching at home, the hero in you is waiting to be unleashed. Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve. As I always tell to my co-volunteers … you are the change that you dream as I am the change that I dream and collectively we are the change that this world needs to be.”
Top 10 CNN Heroes of 2009 features performances by Grammy Award-winning artist Carrie Underwood, R&B crooner Maxwell and British pop sensation Leona Lewis. Presenters included Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Neil Patrick Harris, Pierce Brosnan, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes, Randy Jackson, Greg Kinnear, George Lopez and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The gala event, taped before an audience of 3,000 at the Kodak Theatre, premieres on Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the global networks of CNN.

2012 Movie Review and Video
We got the chance to watch 2012 Movie on the first day of showing in Alabang Town Center. We expected a huge crowd of people so we decided to reserve a seat at Sureseats.com
2012 movie is the best movie i’ve seen this year. It’s like watching Titanic over again. The movie is full of emotions, suspense and actions. From the start until the end of the 2012 movie was like riding a roller coaster and i love the feeling. Effects are exciting for the first hour, but they begin to grate on the nerves – too much, too many, and too little relief. The storylines are formulaic and predictable –everything that happens you know will happen.
The first major earthquake and action was played by John Cusack to save his kids, ex-wife (Amanda Peet) and her new boyfriend (Tom McCarthy) in a limousine was totally cinematic. Too good to be true, but there’s always an unlikely hero in the movie. The obvious dilemma of having the world’s communication systems work for most of the action. Unbelievable.
One of my favorite scenes in 2012 was the time Satnam embraced his son and wife while waiting for a big tsunami. The movie also reminds me of Noah’s Ark. The first large vessel built by Noah himself to save his family and worlds animals in the great flood. This time, gigantic arks were constructed to save only chosen people including the leaders of each nation. Take note, additional individuals are allowed to purchase tickets for one billion euros per piece.
The movie ends with a view of the Earth revealing the African continent as the only major landmass left above water.
2012 is not only a movie that tells us the end of the world. It’s about family too. It’s a great movie that everyone in the family should not miss. I highly recommend it. Thumbs up!

Philippine Veteran Actor Johnny Delgado Died
Philippine Veteran actor Johnny Delgado died at 1:20PM today. It was confirmed by Ruffa Gutierrez and Lea Salonga on their Twitter account. Johnny Delgado was diagnosed with lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes last year.
Last February, SNN news interviewed Delgado and according to him, “Okay na ako. Ang laki ng improvement. Lumabas na ang mga result, okay na okay naman,” he said. “’Yong mga cancer sisirain ang organ, luckily walang nasira sa aking organ — liver, kidney, heart or lungs.”
Johnny Delgado was born on February 29, 1948 in Manila, Philippines. His real name is “Juan Marasigan Feleo”, husband of Laurice Guillen and the father of Ina Feleo. He is an actor and a writer. He is the husband of well-respected director Laurice Guillen.
