Women’s group, Gabriela, has urged the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to investigate ABS-CBN noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ for exploitation of women.
According to Gabriela Secretary General Joan May Salvador, the organization had received several complaints from netizens “alleging that the show seems to be pimping Angelica Jane Yap, known as Pastillas Girl, to different interested men”.
In a statement, Gabriela also added: “As an organization dealing with the protection and advancement of women’s right, we cannot dismiss such complaints. We have been consistent in our statement that competition to sell the show and the ratings war should not be done at the expense of women.”
As of posting time, both the MTRCB and “It’s Showtime” had yet to respond to Gabriela’s complaint.
