Mary Jane Veloso’s recruiter surrendered to police authorities in Nueva Ecjia on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
According to DZMM Radio, Maria Kristina Sergio, also known as Mary Christine Gulles Pasadilla, has turned herself in to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office in Cabanatuan City at about 10 a.m. today.
She voluntarily surrendered to the police because she was fearing for her life. She was with fellow recruiter Julius Lacanilao.
“The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed before the Department of Justice on Monday a complaint for illegal recruitment, human trafficking and estafa against Sergio, Lacanilao, and an African National.”
Indonesia has sentenced 30-year-old Veloso to death because of drug smuggling but she denied the charges, saying she was only fooled into bringing the drugs by her recruiter.
Veloso is set to be executed through firing squad after the Sleman District Court in Indonesia junked the second appeal for her case anytime after 5pm on Tuesday, April 28.
