It’s Showtime Finds Gabriela’s Complaint Over Pastillas Girl ‘Hurtful’ and ‘Offensive’

It’s Showtime has criticized the complaint filed by women’s group Gabriela to MTRCB about the alleged pimping (pambubugaw) of Angelica Jane Yap, popularly known as ‘Pastillas Girl.’

In a statement aired on TV Patrol, Thursday, the noontime show said that the complaint is “not only unfair and irresponsible, but also hurtful and offensive to women like Angelica who has done nothing wrong but to share her story with the hope of getting another shot at love.”

“The intent of the show is to help Angelica in her journey to love and acceptance after recovering from a failed relationship. After hearing Pastillas Girl’s story, a member of the studio audience named Topher declared his intent in getting to know her.”

“Angelica Yap has the freedom of choice to do and reveal what she wants. She was never forced to do anything without her full consent.

“Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas also shows the values of forgiveness, honesty and being open to new possibilities.

“For people to suggest the show is pimping Pastillas Girl is not only unfair and irresponsible, but also hurtful and offensive to women like Angelica who has done nothing wrong but to share her story with the hope of getting another shot at love,” part of the statement said.

Last Oct. 1, the noontime show executives were called to a meeting by the MTRCB in response to a Gabriela complaint.
