WATCH: Mariah Carey Slams American Idol, Calls it “Abusive”

American singer and former American Idol judge, Mariah Carey, on Wednesday said that working on a talent show was “abusive.”

“Oh, it was the most abusive experience,” Carey said.

The pressed quickly asked what she learned on “Idol” but Carey completely ignored the question. “By the way you’ve just driven me to drink,” she told reporters at the Television Press Critics Summer Press Tour.

She also said reality television show isn’t her style: “I don’t consider it reality. I haven’t been on tour in Europe in about 10 years,” she said. “So I thought, let’s just show the behind the scenes, what it really takes to do a tour and mainly, watch how the music evolves, watch the process, and watch how the different personalities clash.”

The 46-year-old attended the TCAs to promote her docu-series “Mariah’s World,” which will air on E! in December.
