British soccer superstar David Beckham is this year’s People’s Magazine Sexiest Man Alive.
“It’s a huge honor,” Beckham, 40, tells PEOPLE of scoring our 30th anniversary Sexiest Man crown. “And I’m very pleased to accept.”
“I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person,” he adds. “I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way.”
When he shared the news with his famous fashion designer wife, Victoria Beckham, “I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway!” he says with a shy smile. “But she said, ‘Congratulations!’ ”
Other honorary include Chris Hemsworth (2014), Adam Levine (2013), Channing Tatum (2012), Bradley Cooper (2011), Ryan Reynolds (2010) and Johnny Depp (2009). A 29-year-old Mel Gibson was the first man to hold the title back in 1985.
