Aerosmith front runner Steven Tyler wants to return to American Idol as a mentor! As reported via E! Online, the “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” singer said he would gladly return, but not as a judge.
‘I wouldn’t go back and be a judge, but I’d be a mentor,’ he said. ‘I loved the fact that you go through 700 people, and out of that, you really can pick someone that has talent, because they have to audition anyway.’And I’m just grateful that Jennifer and I and Randy could pick people that wound up being so good.’
Tyler also revealed that his decision to appear on Idol affected his relationship with the band.
‘We’d just come off a tour and I took Idol and I didn’t tell these guys, to be fair, and they got bummed out,’ he added. ‘We got into a lot of ya-ya because of tumult that happens in a band. Sometimes stuff doesn’t get talked out quite properly, but it always turns out as songs down the line anyway.’
Meanwhile, Tyler’s band ‘Aerosmith’ will begin their show in Oklahoma City on November 8, and will travel through North America until December 13 in Nashville.
Pop star Jennifer Lopez confirmed that she will quit America’s singing contest American Idol on ‘On Air With Ryan Seacrest‘ morning radio show Friday.
“I just don’t feel like I can be there every single day all the time like I have been for the past two years. I feel like I have to do other things,” Lopez told Seacrest during the interview in Los Angeles.
“You know, I really was dreading this phone call with you… Of all the people I’ve spoken to, I have no problem just not saying anything to anybody, but with you… I dread a conversation like this, and you’re gonna make me cry. I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things I love to do that I’ve kind of put on hold because I love Idol so much… I could just keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things… I just feel like we had an amazing run.”
Lopez also said that she’s reluctant to leave the show because “fell so in love with the show, everybody there [and] didn’t know [she]’d be so moved by the show, working with the contestants.”
She did promise that this may not be the last time she’ll grace the screen for Idol, telling Ryan, “I feel like no matter what you guys need over there, I’ll always be here. I feel like if you call me and say, ‘We need you to come in for the first show’ I’ll be there… I just don’t feel like I can be there for every show.”
