Muhammad Ali ‘The Greatest’ is Dead at 74




Former world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali is dead. He died on Friday evening at a Phoenix-area hospital. He was 74.

Yesterday, the boxing legend was hospitalized and being treated for respiratory complications but his family didn’t reveal much about his condition and described Ali as being in “fair condition.”

Born Cassius Clay on Jan. 17, 1942, Ali was the first man to win the heavyweight world championship three times.

He is one of the most recognized sports figures of the past 100 years, crowned “Sportsman of the Century” by Sports Illustrated and “Sports Personality of the Century” by the BBC.

He also wrote several best-selling books about his career, including The Greatest: My Own Story and The Soul of a Butterfly.
