Vocal coach and former duet partner of Britney Spears, Don Philip, performed “Halo” during the X Factor Season 2 blind auditions on Wednesday night, September 12. Philip and Spears sang the duet “I Will Still Love You,” on Britney’s 1999 debut album, Hit Me Baby One More Time.

After his performance, Britney told him, “It seems like you might have been through a lot in the last few years. But your voice isn’t up to the level of The X Factor.”

All the four judges voted not to keep him and after he left the stage, both he and Brit had a little moment. Simon even got out of his chair to console the pop princess, asking if she was okay.

According to an on-the-scene report from Rumorfix.com, before his performance, Philip revealed that he’s gay and then rambled for a few uncomfortable minutes to Britney and the judges about his various woes. The crowd strongly disliked the severely tense energy he brought to the theater and booed loudly as he finished.
