Jamie Foxx performed the national anthem before the highly anticipated boxing match ‘Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather‘ on Saturday in Las Vegas, and many viewers were less than impressed by his vocal performance.
Several took to microblogging site Twitter to slam his performance, with some offering up some boxing references to poke fun at the singer.
One Twitter user said: “Wonder if either of the fighters can stand as much punishment as Jamie Foxx just handed out to the national anthem? #MayPac ”
Another posted: “They couldn’t find a better singer than Jamie Foxx?! #MayPac ”
Larry the Cable Guy tweeted, “Both Boxers should take the first minute of the 1st round and knock out Jamie Foxx for butchering the Anthem!!”
Martin Nievera, “Hey how come no one arrests Jamie Foxx for his anthem?”
But some did appreciate Jamie’s rendition of the national anthem, including Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison.
She tweeted: “Jamie Foxx singing the national anthem…. POWERFUL..”
