A video of presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte joking about an Australian who was raped in Davao City has gone viral on social media.
In a video posted by user ‘Beatboxer ng Pinas’ on Youtube, Duterte was filmed joking about a rape incident involving an Australian missionary.
“All the women were raped so during the first assault, because they retreated, the bodies they used as a cover, one of them was the corpse of the Australian woman layminister. Tsk, this is a problem. When the bodies were brought out, they were wrapped. I looked at her face, son of a bitch, she looks like a beautiful American actress. Son of a b*tch, what a waste. What came to mind was, they raped her, they lined up. I was angry because she was raped, that’s one thing. But she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first. What a waste,” Duterte said.
A number of citizens criticized the mayor including other presidential bets Senator Grace Poe, Mar Roxas II, and Vice President Jejomar Binay.
According to Poe, regardless of a woman’s identity and appearance, no one deserves to be abused. Roxas, for his part, said Duterte should not be allowed to hold power.
