“I will allow the burial of (former President) Marcos in Libingan ng mga Bayani. He was there to fight for the country,” said President Rodrigo Duterte during his speech in Davao City early Sunday, August 7, 2016.
“As a matter of fact, I voted for him during his first term,” he said. “If other Filipinos oppose it, fine. Hold demonstrations, go ahead. You can use the streets for a month,” Duterte added.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made for a September 18 burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. told the Philippine Star newspaper.
“My sister Imee is taking care of the rites in Ilocos because Ilocanos would get angry at us if they would not be able to pay their last respects to him. We’ll bring him first to Sarrat, then to Paoay, before taking him by plane for the burial here at Libingan,” he said.
