Republican Donald Trump defeated Democratic rival and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and win the 2016 US presidential elections.
On Tuesday, November 8, Trump was elected the president of the United States after securing 276 electoral votes over Clinton’s 218.
“I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans,” Trump said in his victory speech after the Associated Press called the race for him at 2:30 am Wednesday morning.
Trump continued, “For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify our great country.”
Trump is scheduled to take office as the 45th President on January 20, 2017.
