The Voice Singer Christina Grimmie Dies at 22 After Being Shot in Orlando Concert


Singer and former contestant of The Voice Christina Grimmie has died at 22 after being shot in Orlando concert on Friday.

Update: According to her publicist, “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. Earlier reports said, the 22-year-old singer opened the show and ended about 10 p.m. After the show, Grimmie and another band ‘Before You Exit’ signed autographs near a merchandise table inside.

A man armed with two guns walked up and opened fire on her, she was hit once. The suspect then shot himself.

Police did not identify the shooter and said a motive is not yet known.

Grimmie came in third place on “The Voice Season 6,” NBC’s singing competition, which aired in 2014.
