American comedian Steve Harvey will return as host of the upcoming Miss Universe beauty pageant to be held in the Philippines on January 30, 2017.
Harvey, despite the Miss Universe 2015 infamouss result blunder, will be in the country to personally apologize to the Filipino people.
In a media interview, Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro said, “Harvey wants to apologize to the Filipinos who were hurt because of what happened.”
She also added that President Rodrigo Duterte was surprised to learn that Harvey will be returning as host.
Harvey previously admitted his mistake on his radio show, saying:
“Did I make a mistake? Yes I did, wholeheartedly. And at this point in the game, I’m not in the finger-pointing business and rolling people under the bus. So, I did what I was trained to do by my father. You make a mistake and you own up to it. And I tried to fix it, I tried to fix it right there.”
