Vice President Leni Robredo has offered a cabinet post in President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration.
On Thursday, July 7, Duterte was offered as chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
According to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, the vice president has accepted the presidential appointment.
“She was tasked to report for the first Cabinet meeting on Monday. I believe both parties are happy with the decision. We could feel that many among present Cabinet members are also happy with the fact that, at last, the vice president is no longer an officer with no Cabinet position,” Aguirre said during a press meeting in Malacanang
In a statement, Robredo thanked the president for appointing her as chair of HUDCC.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo kay Presidente Rodrigo Duterte na itinalaga tayo bilang Tagapangulo ng HUDCC,” she said.
“Mas mapaglilingkuran natin ang ating mga kababayang walang tahanan at maipagpapatuloy natin ang ating pangakong itulak ang kaunlaran at kaginhawaan para sa ating mga kapus palad na kababayan,” she added.
