About 20,000 members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), flocked in EDSA Shrine Friday night, August 28.
INC members started their protest in front of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday, calling for the “separation of church and state.” They were advised by the church officials to transfer from Padre Faura to EDSA. The crowd started gathering in the afternoon and swelled as evening fell.
The ongoing protest is part of their protest of the government’s alleged “meddling” with internal issues of the church.
The protest created heavy traffic and stranded motorists, commuters express their anger on social media.
I don't tweet all the time but this traffic in #EDSA is just getting into my nerves. Plus #IglesiaNiCristo making it alot worse.
