Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel led this year with nine nominations each, including nods for Best Picture and Best Director.

The Imitation Game had eight nominations. American Sniper, Clint Eastwood’s movie about Chris Kyle, tied with Richard Linklater’s Boyhood with six nominations and Bradley Cooper nabbed a Best Actor nod.

Meryl Streep earned another nomination for her work in “Into the Woods,” along with Patricia Arquette and Emma Stone in the Best Supporting Actress category.

The most obvious snub was “Selma,” Ava DuVernay’s moving biopic about Martin Luther King Jr. Despite a nod for best picture and best original song. The film’s director and actors were also snubbed in their respective categories. David Oyelowo missed out on a best actor nomination, but more surprisingly, Avu DuVernay was not acknowledged in the best director category.
