Heneral Luna is Philippines’ Official Entry to Oscars


The historical biopic “Heneral Luna” is the Philippine official entry to 2016 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film category.

Heneral Luna’s official Facebook account announced: “We are happy to announce and share with everyone the good news: HENERAL LUNA has been selected as the Philippines’ Official Entry to the 2016 Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film Category!”

Among the top contenders of the movie were Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s “Taklub” and Carlitos Siguinon-Reyna’s “Hari ng Tondo.”

Meanwhile, Executive Producer Fernando Ortigas and producer E.A. Rocha were happy to hear the news.

“There are no words for the tremendous pride and honor that we feel, with the film being chosen to officially represent our country to the Oscars,” they said in a statement.

Playing the lead is veteran theater, television and movie actor John Arcilla. Powerful cast are Arron Villaflor, Joem Bascon, Archie Alemania, Alex Medina, Art Acuña, Mon Confiado, Epy Quizon, Bing Pimentel, Mylene Dizon, Alvin Anson, Nonie Buencamino, Lorenz Martinez, Leo Martinez and Ketchup Eusebio, with the special participation of Paulo Avelino.

The 88th Academy Awards (OSCARS 2016) will be held on February 28, 2016 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
