Filipina transgender model Trixie Maristela was crowned winner of Miss International Queen 2015 held in Thailand last Friday, November 6.
Trixie, 29, bested other 26 candidates for the coveted crown. Brazil’s Valesca Dominik Ferraz was named first runner-up and Sopida Siriwattananukoon from Thailand as second runner-up.
“I still can’t believe that I won. Right now, I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I’m very thankful to, you know, to be given this chance to win Miss International Queen, which is a very, very prestigious pageant for transgenders,” said Maristela after the pageant night.
Trixie is the second Filipino transgender woman to win the title. Kevin Balot first won the crown for the country in 2012.
