Overseas Filipino Worker Eumee Capile defeated one-time defending champion Andrian Cubillas, frontman of Davao’s pride Nairud sa Wabad, on It’s Showtime’s singing competition “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” on Wednesday, September 14.
The contender from Luzon impressed the judges and won the daily rounds of the show after performing her version of Jessie J’s popular hit song “Bang Bang.”
During the final rounds, Cubilas belted out his own cover of “Lately” by Stevie Wonder while Capile performed “Chandelier” by Australian singer Sia.
After their performance, the judges decided to give the title to Capile. She received a total average score of 96.2 percent while Cubillas with 90.8 percent.
Cupile will return to Tawag Ng Tanghalan stage on Thursday to defend her title.
