MTRCB Summons PBB Execs Over “Badjao Girl” Bullying Incident


The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) released a statement after Rita Gabiola, popularly known as “Badjao Girl,” bullying incident.

On its website, MTRCB is inviting the show’s producers and writers, for a meeting to be held on August 18 about the incident.

“With the above, and considering further the age as well as gender of the concerned housemate, not to mention the representation made in your program that she belongs to an indigenous group or peoples of the Philippines, we are impelled to ask your aftendance, through your authorized representative/s at a conference scheduled for 18 August 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the MTRCB Adjudication Room,” the agency wrote.

On Sunday, August 14, Gov. Joey Salceda of Albay appealed to the concerned government agencies to investigate the incident involving Rita, especially the episode wherein the girl housemates laughed and made fun of her undergarment.
