Broadway star Lea Salonga came under fire over a controversial tweet she posted on Twitter about ‘kababawan’ or shallowness.
Netizens especially Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza fans interpreted her tweet referring to the “AlDub” loveteam.
The tweet read: “Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo? #NagtatanongLangPo.”
Immediately, the 44-year-old singer-actress got the attention from Twitter users and asked what exactly she was referring to. That was the time she mentioned AlDub.
Salonga clarified in her series of tweets that she wasn’t bashing anyone.
“For those of you that replied about BALANCE, you rock my world. That’s what I was after. We all need fun, but that can’t be all there is,” she said.
She even said that she was “slowly learning” about AlDub and described Yaya Dub as “gorgeous.” “I’m slowly learning about the whole AlDub phenomenon. It teaches positive values, most notably LOVE. So why the hate, AlDub fans?” the actress added.
