Honor Thy Father was disqualified from Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 Best Picture category.
The movie directed by Erik Matti was pulled out from the mentioned above category due to non-disclosure of its participation to the CinemaOne Originals 2015 as the festival’s opening film.
In a letter dated December 26, MMDA chair Emerson Carlos, the statement read:
“After careful and thorough deliberation, the Metro Manila Film Festival executive committee has disqualified your entry, ‘Honor Thy Father,’ from the selection of the Best Picture Category of the MMFF 2015 Awards.”
“Honor Thy Father” was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz, Meryll Soriano, Tirso Cruz III, and Krystal Brimmer.
