Japanese actress Maria Ozawa’s first movie in the Philippines has been cancelled after Robin Padilla pulled out from the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry.

Robin’s manager Betchay Vidanes said the 45-year-old actor has decided to withdraw from the film “due to extenuating personal circumstances.”

“His withdrawal is due to the fact of needing to attend to his wife Mariel, as she is experiencing a delicate pregnancy. Mariel is currently pregnant with triplets, and also suffered a miscarriage in March of this year,” the statement said.

“Due to this, Mr. Padilla feels that he needs to focus and prioritize the wellbeing of his family and has decided to forego his role as Tony in the movie ‘Nilalang’.”

Metro Manila Development Authority, which organizes the MMFF, has yet to make a statement regarding the replacement for “Nilalang.”
