Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young was found dead inside his home at North Hollywood Monday morning. There was no official cause of death, but Young’s manager confirmed that the actor ‘tragically took his own life.’
‘Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed,’ said Paul Baruch. ‘We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.’
The Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned and pronounced him dead at the scene, police Officer Sally Madera said.
Sources told TMZ that Young’s body was discovered with a gunshot wound that appears to be self-inflicted.
“Young currently appears in the TNT show “Rizzoli & Isles” — and we’re told when he didn’t show up to work this morning, staffers called the landlord of Young’s L.A. home to check up on the actor. We’re told, when the landlord opened the door, he discovered Young’s body,” the report added.
Lee played the main character on Disney’s “The Famous Jett Jackson.” He was 29.
