Actor Alden Richards was named Best Drama Actor at the 29th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television held at the Kia Theater in Quezon City on Thursday.
The GMA Kapuso star beat out all the six ABS-CBN actors in the same category namely Daniel Padilla for ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo,’ Jericho Rosales and Paulo Avelino for ‘Bridges of Love,’ Eddie Garcia for ‘Give Love On Christmas Presents The Gift Giver,’ Gerald Anderson for ‘Nathaniel’ and Piolo Pascual for ‘Hawak Kamay.’
Alden won the award for his role in the GMA-7 mini-series “Illustrado,” where he played Jose Rizal.
“Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity and the talent,” Alden said while after receiving the award. He also thank his family, his network, his fans club and the whole Aldub nation (fans club of the Alden and Maine Mendoza love team).
“Before I leave this stage, I would like to leave you this quote: ‘Happy is the person who learns to wait as he prays and never loses his patience because in God’s time is the perfect time’,” he said at the end of his speech.
