Resort Spa in Taal Volcano?
News regarding the construction of Taal Resort Spa is so depressing. Holy ghost! A spa in an active volcano? Fact, it will be placed along the main crater. I don’t have any idea in Hawaii if they have one of this kind.
According to PHIVOLCS - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, volcanic hazard includes base surges, ashfalls, lava flows, tsunamis and flooding, lakeshore landslide, fissuring and ground subsidence, the permanent danger zone is the entire volcano island.
The Taal Volcano is one of the 22 active volcanoes in the Philippines. It is located on an island lying in the middle of the lake in Batangas province, its about 50kms south of Manila.
Surprisingly, the volcano is titled to at least four families, noting that the volcano is supposed to be a protected area and therefore can’t be privately owned, according to some reports. Even the chairwoman of the Senate committee on environment and natural resources, Pia Cayetano questioned how private individuals were able to get land titles surrounding the crater of the volcano (I wish I have one).
We must not forget that God gave us all the beautiful things in the world to care about. To the owners and contractors, think about it. I am just one of the advocates of our natural environment.
