Watch the crowning moment of Miss Venezuela
For the first time in history, three contestants in Miss World 2011 with Filipino descendants will be competing to get the crown.
The three Pinay beauties are Filipino-Canadian Riza Santos who will represent Canada, Filipino-Danish Maya Celeste Padillo Olesen who will represent Denmark and Gwendolyn Ruais representing the Philippines.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the three Filipina thanked everyone especially the Filipino community from their respective countries and the Philippines as well.
“I really appreciate support from the Filipino community from Philippines, from Canada. There are Filipinos living around the world I’m proud of my Filipino-Canadian heritage so yes, I’m honored to be representing Canada and come from a Filipino background,” said Santos.
“Although I can’t speak the Filipino language, I feel like one. I can say “mabuhay,” “mahal kita.” I can count up to ten really.. you want to hear it? isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat,” said Olesen.
Ruais on the other hand promised she will do everything to bring home the crown. Will she be the first Miss World 2011?

Miss Philippines Gwendolyn Ruais made it to the semi-finals of Miss World 2011 Top Model Fast Track Event held at Marriott Country Hall, London on October 29, 2011.
Aside from the Philippines, other countries who also made it to the Top Model Fast Track Event Top 20 are Albania, Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Bolivia, China PR, England, France, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, Martinique, Sweden, Ukraine, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
Gwendolyn also made it to the Top 20 of Beach Beauty and the Top 10 of Beauty with a Purpose.
Winners of Beach Beauty, Beauty with a Purpose and Top Model will automatically be included in the semi-finals of Miss World 2011 this November 6,2011 at Earls Court Two in London, England.

The Miss World Philippines has officially crowned the first ever winner of the pageant on Sunday, September 18, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.
Gwendolyn Ruais, from Muntinlupa City will represent Philippines in Miss World 2011 beauty pageant to be held on November 6, 2011 at the Earls Court Exhibition Center in London, England.
The 21-year-old Filipino-French bested 24 other candidates from different parts of the country. She stands 5’11, the tallest in the pageant. Her vital statistics measures 36-26-36.
