The report on January 5 that “The Bourne Legacy” is looking for thousand of Filipino extras was a hoax. The news was reported by Spot.Ph and confirmed by Philippine producer of “The Bourne Legacy” Lope “Jun” Juban Jr. He said, “the names cited in the web entries are unknown to him and are not part of the film’s local unit, Philippine Film Studios, Inc.”
On December 28, 2011, a blog called Casting Calls Manila published an article saying “The Bourne Legacy” is looking for Filipinos to appear in the film, which stars Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz.
The announcement reads, “Audition for the ‘BOURNE LEGACY’ Philippine shoot. We are in need of Stand-in Talents for Lead Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz. Please send your picture with name, age, height and contact number to firstname.lastname@example.org or text 09153080403. Look for Oghie- talent coordinator.”
Juban also said, “there is no Oghie in his staff and the film only has one casting contact. If the film would ever need many extras, Juban said they will tap those already on location because those persons would be familiar with the immediate environment and will act naturally.”
