Yahoo News reports that China’s Ministry of Culture has ordered music download sites to delete songs of the following artist. The ministry posted a list of 100 songs including “Judas” by Lady Gaga, as well as Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” and even the 12-year-old ballad “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys was also targeted. Other songs from Hong Kong and Taiwanese pop songs and a several Western hits were listed also.

The above mentioned songs were never submitted to the ministry for a mandatory government screening, which is required by law in China for all imported entertainment. The rule is meant to preserve China’s “national cultural security” according to a statement released by the ministry.

Sites were told in the August 19 announcement posted to the ministry’s website that they had until September 15 to carry out “self-correction” and delete the songs.
