Filipino-American contestant Cheesa Laureta has made it to “The Voice” Season 2 Top 16 after her mentor Cee Lo Green saved her on Tuesday, April 10.
Cheesa was in the bottom three together with two other contestants Karla Davis and Kim Yarbrough under Teem Cee Lo. She sang the Celine Dion version of “All By Myself” for her last-chance performance. Check out elimination results of The Voice 2 Team Cee Lo & Team Adam here.
The 21-year-old contestant who was born and raised in Hawaii performed a disco song “Don’t Leave Me This Way” popularized by Thelma Houston on The Voice Season 2 Part 2 Performance Night on April 9.
According to the judges: Blake Shelton, “I loved that! It was like watching Solid Gold.” Adam Levine said, “That was cool. Great performance. Not sure it was the right song choice.” While Cee Lo Green said, “It was wonderful. He thinks Disco is a great era to draw from. Electrifying. I enjoyed it and I think the people enjoyed it.”
Cheesa will be back next week to compete with other contestants on The Voice Season 2 Top 16 Performance Night. Airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
