The Pregnant Man Thomas Beatie

April 6th, 2008 by AMBO | Filed under Pregnant Man.

The story of a Pregnant Man shocked the world recently and grabbed the number one spot in almost all of the search engines in the internet. People in the community reacted differently and the question how did it happened is still unanswered?

The Transformation: Before

and After

Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Health care professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognize Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy’s family doesn’t even know I’m transgender.

Watch Thomas Beatie the Pregnant Man in an interview with Oprah.

Part 6

Part 7

Some people respect Thomas and Nancy’s decision to come out in the open and to let the whole world know their story and some are still shocked because no one’s ever heard of a man giving birth before. Basically, the issue of a pregnant man like the titles everywhere is somewhat misleading and is still a hoax. In the Philippines, a man named Edwin Byron fooled the public way back in 1992.

Thomas Beatie, a transgender man of Oregon, gets pregnant by artificial insemination. He has decided to carry his child as he has said, “Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire.” She was born a woman, had a breast reconstruction and testosterone therapy, but decided to keep the female reproductive organs.

Genetically, He is a She.

I don’t know what the fuss is all about, kasi basically he’s still a she. Kaya nga yung headlines nila na “Pregnant Man” is sort of misleading.

Isa pa, live and let live. If “he” wants to have a baby, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Na-sensationalised nga lang masyado. As you clearly mentioned he was a she, before he decided to have the sex change. But within him, still has the reproductive organ of a woman that can support pregnancy.

Just started visiting blogs again after our holiday in ” Disni Plorida”.

I agree with Blogloco. Although, physically he’s a he, but reproductively, he’s a she.

There is definitely room here for the Christian right to criticize people once again due to sexual preference. But who are we to say if it’s wrong or it’s right? Great post Ambo! I blogged about her too cause apparently, she’s half Pinoy too.

just saw it earlier sa TV Patrol, Pinoy nga father niya. In fact, Tracy Lagundino ang real name niya. That makes her/him half pinoy and half pinay este half American.

I am transsexual myself. And I do not like this type of “sensationalism” of transsexuality. I think the press is just looking for a “freak show” to get higher audience ratings, and that transsexuals should NOT participate in giving the networks the stories whereby they earn more money.
