Chris Tiu, the Star Player of Ateneo was reportedly receiving death threats according to news reports and unknown sources. It all came out when Chris Tiu’s family hired bodyguards on the first game of UAAP finals. The family decided to protect Chris after several people approached the Basketball Star Player in several instances.
Chris Tiu denied that he is receiving any threats especially death threat. He also confirmed that there’s no truth about this in his own blog

I just want to say, for the record, that I have not received any such threats and i hope not to receive any in the future. Funny how the media keeps insisting that i am being stalked and threatened. I guess it’s all part of the hype of this tumultuous event called Ateneo vs La Salle.
Tomorrow is the second game of UAAP Finals. Ateneo will be the UAAP Champion if they win the game and Game 3 is set if De La Salle wins.

Jaypee maybe for that reason or part of other publicity. Don’t know exactly and they don’t even have an official statement about the issue. Anyways, they won! haha

The minute I heard about those rumors, I didn’t believe them. Death threats for a simple college rivalry? We may be at odds with one another on the the court pero Ateneans and La Sallians still respect each other beyond the rivalry.
