Starting today pinoyambisyoso.com will feature “Pinoy Ambisyoso’s Bow Ako Sa IYo Pinoy!”. This is a collection of random facts that we should be proud of. I am doing this to let other people know “What’s the Buzz” in the country today. News that are not given so much attention but contributed to our nation’s prestige and honor. Are you ready to know the facts?
Presenting Pinoy Ambisyoso’s “Bow Ako Sa IYo Pinoy!”
The leading private water service company in the Philippines, Manila Water, received International Finance Corporation’s Client Leadership Award, the first Philippine company to receive this global award.

Binalot Fiesta Foods wrapped up the once-in-a-lifetime Centennial Prize in the worldwide 2007 UPS Out-of-the-Box Small Business Contest commemorating United Parcel Service’s (UPS) 100th year of existence. The award came with not only a $10,000 cash prize but the distinction that the next winner will have to wait another 100 years to win the same award.
Von Hernandez as TIME Magazine’s “Heroes of the Environment”, is on the same list as Al Gore, Prince Charles and Mikhail Gorbachev. A former literature professor, now an activist, environmentalist, and Greenpeace campaign director for Southeast Asia, Hernandez is one of Asia’s leading activists against waste incineration.
Filipino IT executive Joselito “Jojo” Añonuevo is the new senior director of business development of Internet giant Yahoo!, overseeing the firm’s activities in Southeast Asia.
No Amazing Race show can be without its hunk factor and that is where Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez from the Philippines come in. This is one team with the two flamboyant individuals, who dish out a mixture of comedy and ego with a ton of sass. Both TV hosts by day, Rovilson also works as a magazine editor while Marc is a model, whose face, and rather well toned body, has graced the cover of many magazines. Watch them at Amazing Race Asia Season 2.
Unknown to many Filipinos, the pristine beauty of Palawan was all the rage in France (and some parts of Belgium) last year when at least nine million people were glued to their seats for 11 weeks to watch the seventh season of “Koh Lanta.” Hosted by Denis Brogniart, “Koh Lanta” is the French franchise of the popular reality American TV show “Survivor.” Season 7 was shot entirely in El Nido in Palawan, and there could not be any better location, as attested by the host, the 16 contestants, 70 production and crew people, plus about 100 local people who worked together for 40 days to bring to French televiewers the excitement and adventure that are typically “Survivor.”
Art works of eight Filipino elementary students were chosen as the country’s eight best drawings in the Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enniki Fiesta held recently in Tokyo, Japan. Hana Richelle Tang Tan, a third-grader at St. Jude Catholic School-Manila, was the Grand Prix Award winner for the Philippines; Maphete Dianne Lustre, a Grade 6 student of West Visayas State University Integrated School won the Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee Award; and Sharmayne Desiree Ng, a Grade 6 student also of St. Jude Catholic School, won the National Federation of United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Associations in Japan Award.
The Manila Ocean Park, the Philippines’ first oceanarium which will rival popular oceanariums in Hong Kong, Singapore and the US, will open on December 15, 2007. Located behind the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, the oceanarium will feature the largest marine aquatic display in the country which park visitors can view through a 25-meter underwater acrylic walkway.
International publications have cited Boracay and Palawan as two of the best destinations in the world. The white, powdery sands and azure waters of Boracay, Aklan landed in the Top 10 beach destinations of the Asian Wall Street Journal. The publication noted Boracay as a favorite among Asian holiday seekers for the variety of activities and entertainment available from water sports to spas, from all-night parties to quiet, secluded nooks. It is also the only Southeast Asian attraction in the survey, joining other upcoming and exotic places such as Honduras, Abu Dhabi and Montenegro.
