I don’t see anything wrong if we admit that we blog because we want to earn. We work in the internet and there’s money online.
I’ve met a lot of people who earns through blogging. I’ve also met bloggers who do not want to monetize their blogs, but wants popularity. In my opinion, if you are popular why not take the opportunity to make money online? There’s nothing really wrong in making money online. We earn through our efforts and that’s we call a “reward”. If money is a motivation, then go for it.
Generally, Motivation is defined as a driving force that initiates and directs behavior. In other words, motivation is a kind of internal energy which drives a person to do something in order to achieve something. Motivation should serve you well if you choose to accept it and act upon it.
You may read the Seven Rules of Motivation.
In the physical world, we work offline to sustain our needs. We pay our monthly bills, we buy house and car, we pay our insurance, the bottom line – “we pay”. In reality, money is what we need. Let’s admit it.
A lot of bloggers would say, ah you’re blogging because you want money. Well that’s my point. That’s one of my motivations. If there are other reasons aside from making money online, that’s to help my fellow bloggers and to help other people outside the blogosphere. Our dear readers.
Blogging is like an online newspaper. What makes us different from the traditional broadsheet is the technology we use. We deliver information around the world. We not only inform, but we help people too.
For a year and half of my blogging career, i have received lot of emails asking for help. I’ve never ignored anyone who asked my assistance through writing. Simple as that.
Last year, a cancer victim, a British Mom who touched the heart of Filipino Kids and a Charity Program of a disabled student were few of the chosen people i’ve helped through writing in this blog.
Helping people in all aspects is one of the motivations i’ve learned during the course of my blogging career last year and of course my passion in writing. Second is money. We should understand that the most important thing is to make the most important thing the most important thing.
What about you? What motivates you to continue blogging?
By the way, i’ve then again changed my layout. Hopefully this would be the last. i’ve patterned the color in red as it signifies the lucky color of the year according to Chinese Feng Shui
Hope you like the new theme.
Thanks and hope to hear from you. Happy Weekend to all!

That is a nice article. Personally, I have 3 reason why I blog. First, I want to learn more about the niche I chose or the micro niche that surrounds it. In choosing my niche, I make sure that I’m very interested about it or else ideas wouldn’t be popping out. Second, in my own little way, I want to be considered as an authority in the niche that I have chosen meaning that people are agreeing with what I am saying. If I can accomplish those 2 things then my third reason will be for profit. That’s why I Blog.

What motivates me?
1. I want to blog quality content
2. To gain popularity
3. And lastly, I want to earn money – hey who doesn’t?
Yung nagsasabi na ayaw nilang ma-monitize yung blog nila are only minimal most of us wants to showcase our blog to the world and at the same time be popular na rin – kasama na dun yung pag-earn ng money online.
Just my cents.

back in 2004, when I started my first blog. i didn’t know blog could earn money. i was enjoying myself then.
when i learned bloggers are earning money thru their blogs, i became frustrated, because i wasn’t. i started to look how i can earn money thru blogging… and i became even more frustrated! because it was not really as easy as mel & joey said it would be.
i forget about earning, and tried to enjoy blogging again. i blog and i blog. i explored different blogs. i created more blogs. i was enjoying myself more, i can write more. suddenly, the ‘earning’ part came… not really that big. but it is still something.
i love to earn money, but that is not my motivation… writing is.

Writing keeps me sane. I’m an introvert. It takes lots of time for me to connect to new people at a meaningful level. Going at this rate, I’d get to live and die and boast of only a handful friends. Not that it’s bad, but for sure there has to be a better way.
Writing a blog frees me of my inhibitions, dismantles this wall of privacy, and makes connecting to other people more agreeable.
Writing is a lonely enterprise. You’re alone in your own head. Who listens? Who gives a hoot? Blogs provide that longed for companionship through interactions and comments. And you find out your voice matters.
Like Roy I find fulfillment in writing. If it comes to a point that it earns handsomely, I have no quarrel with that. Well done. If not, I will just have to pray extra hard so I earn enough to pay the internet bill, the electricity used, and huge amount of coffee I down in order to post.

I have been blogging now for more than 4 years. And I think much has changed, before it was mostly geeks who blog, these days not anymore. many of my old friends don’t write anymore. I think they hate how so many bloggers out there don’t make sense anymore.
I like blogging and I really stopped caring for comments and does not matter if I earn money or anything from here. It’s just nice to have a nice, little place on the Internet where I can write and I don’t give a shit to what others think. If somebody reads it, great. At least it’s out there.
And I like to write.

nung wala pang blogging, kahit saan ko lang sinulat mga scribblings ko, whether it be a poem, short story or some thoughts. now, those scribblings in my notebooks are edited and are scattered throughout my blogs in the blogosphere. And it’s not for money that i posted them.

sometimes, in the middle of our blogging careers (as in career na), the motivations change. Initially, the reason may just be about self expression. pero sa initial stage lang yun, when we still don’t know about monetization and popularity.

Aside from earning, what motivates me to blog is yung mga comments na natatanggap ko from other people, whether blogger or just a reader. One more thing is yung inspiration din na nakukuha ko from reading other blogs and their success stories in blogging.

The satisfaction one can get from writing articles that other people enjoy to read is my main motivation. Knowing that you give something worthwhile to the world. And secondary is money.
I want to be rich, so I’m planning to start a blog about my dreams and plans of getting rich…hehe… Through blogging, I get my motivation to go on with my dreams. Naturally, if you personally say to people that you want to get rich, they might think that you’re a braggart or arrogant. Not so with blogging. You can blog anything you want and there are people who will agree with you and even help you.
