Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez was arrested Monday night in Angeles City, Pampanga for allegedly possessing a kilo of marijuana.
According to reports, the son of the late Rudy Fernandez and Alma Moreno tried to slip past a police checkpoint at around 8:30 p.m. that led to a car chase and arrest him.
Authorities allegedly found the pack of marijuana, still classified as a dangerous drug in the Philippines, inside the Fernandez’s yellow Ford Mustang,
The former matinee idol is currently detained at the Station 6 of the Angeles City Police, and will undergo a drug test Tuesday.
He faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165).

Fernandez claimed he had no idea where the illegal drugs came from, but admitted that he smoked marijuana to keep from getting cancer.

UPDATE: Fernandez tested positive for using marijuana but not for shabu according to GMA News.
