WATCH: Joseph Schooling of Singapore Beats Michael Phelps in Rio Olympics 100m Butterfly Final


Singapore earns its first ever gold medal as Joseph Schooling beats Michael Phelps of the United States in the final of the men’s 100m butterfly at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Schooling won the gold medal of the men’s 100m butterfly division of the swimming event held at the Aquatic Stadium on Friday, August 12, 2016.

Phelps, who was hoping for his fourth gold medal in Rio and 23rd overall, ended up for silver with South Africa’s Chad le Clos and Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, 0.75s behind Schooling’s winning time of 50.39 seconds.
