Erap, Guilty or Not Guilty?

After six years of waiting, Former President Joseph Estrada’s promulgation of plunder case is set on Wednesday 9m, September 12, 2007, Manila. Five days to wait and the verdict for Erap will be issued by the Sandiganbayan.

In the news, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales quoted, “i understand that if the former President is convicted, it will be hard for some people. But we need to abide by the rule of law or else it will lose its credibility.”

Whatever the verdict is, it is time for us to accept the decision. We have to respect our Justice System. We have to move on.

September 12 would be a remarkable day for Filipinos. The long wait is over. Let our democracy decide. Whether guilty or not guilty.

  1. Lavern says:

Lester Cavestany very well said. I must agree.

  2. Thanks for including Archibishop Rosales’ quote on the matter. This should balance out the calls for pardon of Cardinal Vidal. Actually, I would prefer if the Church and their officials didn’t get into politics and government issues. I hope someday this aspect of the ’separation of church and state’ can be included in our culture.

September 12, 2007 is truly a remarkable day for us. Our democratic system which involves the checking-and-balancing of the three branches of government, is starting to work. Ang galing ng mga judges! Hindi sila natakot na ipakulong ang dating pangulo.
