CNN Hero of 2009 Efren Peñaflorida

Efren Peñaflorida is one of the Top 10 finalists in this year’s CNN Hero of 2009. Seven months ago, he was featured as the hero of the week of CNN because of his inspiring story for the youth. He uses pushcart to teach children in slum areas of the country. Efren like many other Filipinos believe that the street children need an education to become successful in life.

Children ranging from ages 2 to 14 flock to the pushcart every Saturday to learn reading, writing, arithmetic and English from Peñaflorida and his trained teen volunteers.

Every country needs a hero like Efren. Let’s support our Kababayan. Vote for him.
