TV Reporter Ces Drilon Was Kidnapped in Sulu

TV Reporter Ces Drilon kidnapping was later confirmed by ABS-CBN after the alleged news blackout. Ces Drilon and two of her cameramen, Jimmy Encarnacion and Angelo Valderrama were seized by the Abu Sayyaf members in the village of Kulasi, Maimbung, Sulu. Ms. Drilon was accompanied by Octavio Dinampo, a professor from the Mindanao State University, who was helping in her coverage. The allegations was later confirmed by Supt. Julasirim Kiram, Provincial Police chief of Sulu.
They were blocked on Sunday in Maimbung, Sulu, Jolo, by militants headed by armed men under Albader Parad, an Abu Sayyaf leader and Gapur Jundain, former member of the Moro National Liberation Front.
Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, police regional director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said that:”Pinapakain naman sila [They are being fed well], they are well and alive, hindi sila nakatali [they are not tied] and nakakalabas sila [they are able to move around] but they are being escorted.”
Ransom were also allegedly asked, ranging from PPh10 million to PPh30 million or an equivalent to $227,000 and $454,000 (US).
Ces Oreña-Drilon, a Filipino television journalist. Has numerous reports about Mindanao and had a frequent visit in Sulu. She has presented several news and public affairs programs for the News and Current Affairs division of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation. Ces Drilon is married to the painter Rock Drilon, a nephew of former Senate President Franklin Drilon; they have 4 children.
Let’s just hope and pray that Ms. Drilon and company will be released safely soon.

Grabe naman ito kapatid. Kaloka! Pero from the few times that I have turned the tv on for news, haven’t heard a word about it. News black out ba ito? Nway, will be coming back here for updates ha. God bless po! :-)

Inamin na rin ng ABS that the rumors are true. News blackout kasi at first. I first read about this last nigh in the forums.

Yes Dadimon. After ilabas ng Reuters ang news inamin na din nila ang totoong nangyari kay Ces Drilon. For security and safety din daw nung tatlo. That time wala pa daw kasi silang alam sa totoong nangyari.

she’s looking for trouble and “scoop”.. right? well.. she definitely found what she’s looking for. problem is, this group is not like the military who has the moral values not to “really hurt” them. masyadong matapang eh..tignan na lang natin ngayon. too bad everybody who’s not thinking enough is still blaming the government. but for me..no body else is to blame but ces, her crew, and their vanity for their work. they forgot that there’s no such thing as “journalist’s immunities” with criminals and terrorists.

Sana nga buhay pa si Ms. Ces Drilon. Ewan ko lang sa mga Abusayaff sa atin sinisira ang pangalan ng bansa natin samantalang kapwa Pinoy din sila. Sa barko nung nagwork ako, pag ang mga Jamaican nakakita ng Pinoy ang tawag sa amin Abusayaff. Masakit kasi ang tingin ng ibang lahi sa atin katawa tawa. Sariling bayan mga terrorista. Sana magbagong buhay na sila. Hindi lang pakikipagbaka ang bubuhay sa prinsipyo nating mga Pinoy. Utak at sipag lang ang katapat nyan.

Daming hate comments kay Ces Drilon sa internet. Kesyo nakikipag-unahan daw kasi siya sa pagbabalita kaya yan napala niya. Tsk tsk tsk. I can’t imagine na ganito na effect ng network war.
