On Sunday, December 20, the new Miss Universe was crowned its winner live at The Axis Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was crowned winner of Miss Universe 2015. Beating out 79 other candidates from around the world.
During the announcement of the winner, host Steve Harvey, misread his cue card which he initially said had Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner.
As she walk around the stage, Harvey stopped the program and said: “I have to apologize. The first runner up is Colombia.”
“Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines,” he added, with the Colombian contestant left like a deer in headlights and the actual winner, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, looking shocked. “It was my fault. “Please don’t hold it against the ladies,” added the talk show host.
