Anna Lysakowska of Anna Everywhere said she visited the island because of its white soft sand and parties but was disappointed and called it “the worst island I’ve ever visited.”

“The worst thing about Boracay was actually the beach. Not only because I was being bothered by annoying vendors, but because the beautiful island of Boracay is constantly being destroyed by consumerism.”

“Boracay turned out to be no more than a tourist trap and probably one of the worst places I’ve ever been to in South-East Asia. You may hate me for saying this and trust me, I was incredibly disappointed when I left the island so before you crucify me, read my thoughts to understand why I hated Boracay,” she wrote.

She also said that lack of Filipino culture in the island, that locals adjusted to foreign visitors.

“I guess it’s not surprising then that Filipino people quickly figured out what kind of people come to Boracay and ‘adjusted’ the place to the crowd. There was nothing Filipino in Boracay, everything was designed for tourists in the cheesiest and most horrible way possible.”

At the end of her article, she warned others to think first before going to Boracay but encourage to visit other places in the country like Cebu, Bohol and Palawan.
