Miss World 2014 Beauty Pageant Official List of Contestants

Miss World 2014 also the 64th edition of the Miss World beauty pageant will be held on December 14, 2014 at ExCeL in London, UK. Megan Young of the Philippines will crown her successor at the end of the event.

There are 124 contestants, in the list, from all over the world will compete for the crown including Miss Honduras Maria Jose Alvarado.

Unfortunately, on November 19, 2014, Alvarado and her sister Sofia Trinidad were found murdered and then buried in the village of Cablotales. Miss Honduras pageant organizers decided not to replace Alvarado; therefore, the country has officially withdrawn from the contest this year.

As part of the preliminary, Miss World 2014 contestants rendered memorial service. Candles were lit in their memory; some of the contestants spoke and offered prayers during the memorial, with Miss Virgin Islands calling for “a united force” to stand against violence toward women and children.

Reigning Miss World Megan Young added, “Let us not remember María José and Sofía Trinidad through this tragedy but let us remember them through the good people that they were.” And Julia Morley, chairwoman of the Miss World organization, announced that this year’s Miss World winner will travel to Honduras to, as part of her reign, build a school in both Maria Jose and Sofia’s memory. “While we may be in sorrow today,” she said, “we can build for a better tomorrow.”
