A young man who had a comfortable and achievement-adorned life in the US, left it all in search of true meaning to “life, freedom, purpose, and happiness” figuratively embodied in a “perfect golden coconut.” While in the US, he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class, received a full scholarship to one of the top US colleges, Rice University, interned at NASA for two terms, and is MENSA International qualified, to name a few of his accomplishments. He now lives as a “nomad” in the Philippines and attempts to try and understand various aspects of life and life itself. He maintains a blog to document his thoughts and photographs during his journey. His writings and ideas have good intentions and have potential for overall world improvement, which you will see from reading his blog.
“Para akong nuts o baliw na naghahanap ng ambisyon sa Pilipinas habang ang karamihang Pilipino ay nagkakandarapang pumunta sa Amerika”
David’s story is truly an inspiration especially to our typical teen-agers nowadays who wishes for an American Dream. Going back to the Philippines is like living his dreams.
David Poarch you an inspiration and a Proud Pinoy!

JP, well lahat ng bagay may katapusan bro. Yeah goodluck david!

Bwizzzittt! Magang maga! Pina-iyak mokooooo!!!*luhaan*
I wrote something about him in my blog last year I believe and I was a Coconuter follower, not only is he cute (hehehe) but he’s my first love too.
But really, I had my own coconute moment in life. My friends in the US, blasted the hell out of me when I decided in 2005 to sell my house, pack up and live in Pasig which I did. Eh gaga me, I only stayed 11 months - but it was the most and ever ever evaaaar togetha feeling greatest forever moments and experience of my life.
When I left the US then, I had a lot of difficulty explaining it because most everyone else were going in a different direction. I stuck to my goals. In my mind, I don’t want to grow old and tell people that I had the opportunity and did not grab it. Pumalpak ako, so what. I took the risk. I grabbed it. Nasunog lang nga ako.
I’m back in the US. I really, really love the Philippines and would love to come back for good. As crazy as the Filipinos are, I still love all of them as well everything in Manila, the traffic, the slums everything. They’re part of the picture.
Thanks for the video. Never saw this.

I suppose all of us are looking for our place under the sun. Gusto natin i-try yung di pa natin nararanasan at baka yun yung place natin. That’s why most pinoys want to go to the states, to experience how it is to live like an american. In the case of the coconuter, who grew up in the priviledge and very “kano” surroundings of America, Pinoy’s way of life naman ang trip nya. I guess we all have our own ideas of what we want or we think we want in life and at some point on our lives eh we just have to do it and prove to ourselves kung yun ba talaga yung gusto nating gawin sa buhay natin.
